It suddenly dawned on me, how very much like my parents I could end up to be: focused on work and career to raise and care for a family with a strong enough financial support, hence having little time for themselves for any form of social life beyond blood ties. Except of course the whole getting married+family bit, but I’d just replace it with football and comics I guess. It’s too easy to slip away and be self-centred, and when two parties mirror each other in this effect, the strength of their friendship dissolves.
Then again, one could be willing and the other the opposite. In any case, this issue needs to be solved, it’s a stark reminder of Ross and Rachel when they initially broke up around Season 2 or 3 I think: when the rest of the group had to make time for each of them with neither of them on any sort of good terms.
